The Planning Board for the Town of Westerly will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. during which the Board will accept public comment on the proposed 2020-2040 Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Westerly as well as provide a recommendation on the form and content of the Comprehensive Plan to the Town Council for adoption of this ordinance.
The new Comprehensive Plan that the Planning Board will consider replaces in its entirety the existing Comprehensive Plan adopted on February 8, 2010. The New Comprehensive Plan’s adoption is in accordance with Rhode Island General Laws §45-22.2 et. seq.
The proposed new Comprehensive Plan being considered is available for public review at the Town of Westerly’s Department of Development Services and Town Clerk’s Office at the Westerly Town Hall, 45 Broad Street, Westerly, RI during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is also available below. The document under consideration during this public hearing is titled “Town of Westerly, Rhode Island Comprehensive Plan” and dated May 18, 2020.
The public hearing may be continued by the Planning Board to a subsequent date without further advertisement in accordance with the Open Meetings Law. The language of the new Comprehensive Plan under consideration may be altered or amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertisement as a result of further study or because of the views expressed at the public hearing. Any alteration or amendment must be presented for comment in the course of the hearing.
The Westerly Town Hall is accessible to people with disabilities. Individuals requiring interpreter services for the hearing impaired must notify the Town Clerk’s Office at (401) 348-2502 not less than 48 hours in advance of the meeting date.
