2025 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENTS

Building off many of the findings from the Route One Corridor Report, Westerly’s Architectural Review Board and Economic Development Commission engaged in a series of workshops and working sessions in the spring of 2025. These sessions focused broadly on design standards and were intended to narrow the scope of proposed changes for Route One. In the summer of 2025, Office of Planning staff engaged the Planning Board through four working sessions focusing on signage, building design, site design & setbacks, right of way improvements, and zoning changes as they relate to the Route One Corridor. The 2025 Comprehensive Plan Amendments are the product of this process.

A public hearing was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 and continued to Tuesday, November 18, 2025, during which the Planning Board reviewed and discussed the above materials. Public comment was accepted and a recommendation was issued to Town Council on the Implementation of the Route One Corridor Study, including Comprehensive Plan Amendments, Zoning Ordinance Amendments, and Zone Changes.
